Confession, often perceived as an act of acknowledging wrongdoings, which plays a crucial role in your recovery journey. Confession serves as the foundational step toward healing, wholeness, and restoring an intimate relationship with Christ.

Key Components to Confession:

One of the primary components of confession is acknowledgement and acceptance. Being able to acknowledge addiction is being able to say it. Honest acceptance by saying the words “porn” and “masturbation” reduces the power of the addiction. Simply describing this compulsive behavior and its effects to its initial's “p” and “m,” reduces its harmful impact to your spirit and soul.

1 John 1:9, reads, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (NIV)

Acknowledgement of your transgressions and seeking God’s forgiveness allows you to make peace with where you are and release layers of trauma. Seeking forgiveness pulls you out of denial, deception, and a diluted reality. Confession gives you power over your addiction. Not the other way around.

“If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not walk in truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”

1 John 1:6-9 NIV
